Funereal Duskywing
Dear Vic,
This is one of the Duskywing Skippers in the genus Erynnis, probably the Funereal Duskywing which is pictured on BugGuide. Daniel has been seeing Funereal Duskyings in his Mount Washington garden on composite flowers including sunflower for weeks.
